Report an AI incident

Tell us about a scam, a fake, or an automated decision that went wrong. It takes about two minutes. You can stay anonymous, and a person reads every report.

Lost money or being threatened right now? Call your bank first, then contact Netsafe. If you’re in danger, call 111.

You don't need to give your name or any proof. But if we can't check what happened, we may not be able to publish it as its own entry. We'll still use it, privately, to spot patterns.

1. What kind of harm was it?Choose the closest one. We can change it later.

In your own words. Don’t include passwords, bank details or anyone’s full name.

3. When did it happen?For example, 27 3 2026. A rough date is fine.

5. Did anyone lose money?
For example: the phone number or email address that contacted you, the name of the fake account or website, or a reference number from your bank, the police, Netsafe or the National Cyber Security Centre. Anything helps.A news story, the fake post or the page involved.Screenshots (optional)Up to 5. Blur any personal details first. Screenshots are never published, and we delete them once we have checked your report.

Only to check details of your report. If there is no other way to check it, this is often how we can. Leave it blank to stay anonymous.

What happens next

  1. A person reads your report within [timeframe].
  2. We check it, using anything you sent us and other sources such as news reports. It shows as under review until it’s confirmed.
  3. If it meets our criteria, it goes on the register without anything that could identify you.
  4. If there’s no way to check it, we keep it private and use it only to spot patterns.

Not sure if it counts? Report it anyway. We’d rather hear about it.
