New Zealand needs a shared record of what AI is actually doing to people here. Without one, every harm looks like a one-off, and decisions get made on guesswork.
What we do
We collect reports of AI causing harm in New Zealand, check them, rate how serious they were, and publish them in one place anyone can search. Every month we write up what the register shows.
International databases track AI incidents worldwide, but few New Zealand cases make it into them. This register fills that gap, with local context and local sources.
Who runs it
The register is a project of AI Safety Aotearoa, a volunteer-run organisation based in Wellington. AI Safety Aotearoa does the public education and campaigning. This site sticks to the record.

Independence and funding
We’re non-partisan and we don’t take money from AI companies. No funder sees or approves entries before they’re published.
Our funding comes from [funders, or “individual donations”].
