How to cite the register

Cite the entry or dataset version you used, and the date you looked at it. Entries can change as we learn more.

A single incident

Every entry has a permanent ID, like AIA-2026-0142, and a citation you can copy on its page.

In news stories

On first mention, describe us as “AI Incidents Aotearoa, a public register of AI harms run by AI Safety Aotearoa”, and link to the entry or to aiincidents.nz.

Please describe our numbers as reported incidents. The register only includes incidents we know about, so it isn’t a count of all AI harm in New Zealand.

Please don’t

  • Present entries marked under review as confirmed.
  • Use the register to try to identify people involved in an incident.
  • Suggest AI Incidents Aotearoa endorses your conclusions.
